S.S. Vienna experienced a number of accidents during her post-war career. Whilst still berthed at Parkeston Quay ready for a 23.00 departure, when at 21.45 an explosion in the starboard combustion chamber of No 3 boiler discharged the contents killing 2 of her crew.
