This Day in History: 1882-07-20
The Harwich Bicycle Club held what is believed to be one of the fastest
races in amateur cycling history. Mr Canes and Mr Cavil, the pair started
from the George Hotel, Colchester, at 6pm and arrived at Great Oakley
58 minutes later met by their cheering friends.
