Captain Charles Algernon Fryatt stood before a court
charged with ramming a German submarine “U33” near
the maas Buoy. at 1600 hrs he was found guilty and was
sentenced to be shot. When rumours of Fryatt’s execution reached England, there was a storm of outrage.
