On this day in Harwich and Dovercourt

1954 The first serious attempt to solve the mystery of the ancient tunnels which honeycombed beneath Harwich was made when access was gained into a secret cellar. The investigation took place in Church Street, but there was no evidence to prove or disprove the tunnel theory.
